Hands-On renews Guitar Hero mobile deal

Casts more doubt on Vivendi Games Mobile's future

Hands-On renews Guitar Hero mobile deal

Hands-On Mobile has announced the extension of its deal with Activision to make mobile games based on console franchise Guitar Hero.

Hands-On will now release Guitar Hero World Tour this year, and a follow-up to strategic spin-off Guitar Hero III: Backstage Pass will come out next year, too.

The deal is a global one, so presumably Connect2Media will distribute the games in Europe. In the US, Guitar Hero World Tour will include real-time multiplayer over the network, and a companion website with community features.

It follows the barnstorming success of Guitar Hero III Mobile in the US, where it quickly sold more than a million downloads following its release earlier this year.

However, the new deal also clearly indicates that Activision sees no internal future for its Vivendi Games Mobile division, around which there have been persistent rumours in recent weeks.
