On Friday we posted about a press release from Sony and Sky concerning the launch of Barclays Premier League football footage on the PSP video-on-demand service Go!View. However, we felt there were some gaps in the information provided – notably what "45 minutes of extended highlights from Sky Sports matches" exactly meant.

Happily, after some consultation, we can confirm what will be provided is 45 minutes of highlights of specific Barclays Premier League games, which will available around nine hours after the end of each match (i.e. early the following morning), rather than a Match of the Day 45 minutes package that rounded up an entire day's or weekend's action as we'd feared.

However, there are some caveats.

It won't be the case that all of the 92 live and 242 near live games Sky is showing this season will be available. We're told it will be a "selection".

For example, from this weekend's games, Aston Villa's demolition of Manchester City is the highlight while Arsenal's win over new boys West Brom, Hull's surprising victory over Fulham and Blackburn's excellent defeat of Everton are all available. Tottenham vs Middlesbrough and Bolton vs Stoke were also available but not the games involving Man Utd, Chelsea or Liverpool (the latter because the rights were owned by TV rival Setanta).

And checking further, we also noticed the games are live on the service for different periods of time, with the Arsenal game available throughout this week, but the other games only available to download from Sunday to Tuesday.

Presumably this will be where the other, permanently available highlights package comes into play, which from October will provide a Match of the Day-style overview of the action.

The Sports channel of Go!View is available for the monthly fee of £5, with the first month free. Check out out our Go!View hands-on and Go!View How To articles for more details.
