World Snooker Championship '09 breaks on mobile

I-play is never far from a new addition to its World Snooker Championship franchise, and as the felt and balls extravaganza gears up for this year’s gentlemanly competition it’s time for the official mobile game to start doing the rounds.

The series has improved a lot over the last couple of years, growing with phone technology to bring those 3D tables closer to the real game, and we’re told this latest addition once again builds upon the 3D visuals and tweaks the menu systems to make the game more accessible.

You can choose from 32 of the world’s top ranking players as you pot, cannon and screw your way to becoming the World Snooker Champion.

It seems developer Blade Interactive has made a pretty significant attempt to recreate the Crucible where the championship is played out, and features the sedate commentary style of the aging BBC presenters.

Keep an eye out for further coverage as we get it, and who knows: Chaz ‘n’ Dave might even stop by for a Pocket Gamer knees up.

They won’t, though.

Spanner Spencer
Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
