It’s that time of year again, where thousands of Britons shun the all-too-rare sunshine in favour of sitting in their living rooms, in dingy pubs or in windowless auditoriums. The reason for such behaviour? No, it’s not the pale British complexion - it’s snooker.
The World Snooker Championship 2009 is in full swing over at The Crucible in Sheffield - the sport’s biggest tournament played at its most hallowed venue. Anyone with even the remotest interest in the gentleman’s game will be glued to their television sets to watch the best in the game compete for the ultimate prize.
Will Rocket Ronnie do what comes naturally and sweep away all who cower before him? Or will he get frustrated, break his cue over his knee and leave the door wide open for one of the many talented challengers to his throne?
