The addition of multiplayer tops a major update to real-time strategy game Trenches coming in March.

According to developer Thunder Game Works, both competitive and cooperative modes of play will be introduced for local play via Bluetooth. Check out video of the latter here.

"We have been hard at work on the multiplayer addition to Trenches since we've launched and this is definitely something that we feel will be a great hit amongst our players," spokesperson Kris Jones tells us.

The update, which requires firmware 3.x (now free for iPod touch users), offers head-to-head versus matches and cooperative rushes against the a computer-controlled army.

Zombie Horde, which is unlocked once you've completed the single player campaign will be playable in co-op, as pictured in the image gallery above.

Trenches is available now for iPhone and iPod touch at a price of 59p/99c with the multiplayer update expected in March.
