Glu unleashes mobile version of Speed Racer

Like racing? Like speed? Like games based on films about racing at speed? Like games based on Wachowski Brothers films based on Japanese anime series called Mach GoGoGo? Mobile games? You do?

Then it's your lucky day, because Glu has announced the release of Speed Racer, the mobile conversion of the film due out on 9th May.

Naturally, it's a racing game, and one in which you get to use something called Car Fu ("an artful driving skill and sense of oneness with the vehicle") to drift, slide, and jump around the game's assortment of "extreme" rollercoaster-like tracks. It looks like a bit of an arcade romp, with bonuses for things like evasions and opponent crashes.

As well as a Story mode, there are Survival and Chasing modes to keep you going, with six different cars and other content being unlocked as you progress.

Fans of the series may also be glad to know that you'll come up against original characters, including the mysteriously named Racer X. Sounds like a blast.
