Get ready to J.A.M. with this classic scrolling shooter
Don't be jelly
Neptune Interactive, the developer behind 2009's raucous beat-'em-up Tap Fu has announced its latest game for iOS will be a classic arcade-style scrolling shooter.
Published by new outfit Forest Moon (the indie arm of Crescent Moon), it will be called J.A.M. (for Jets Aliens Missiles).
It recalls the classic gameplay of Gradius or R-Type but not quite so hardcore, we're guessing.
In J.A.M., players take control of a jet and use it to defend colonies from a massive, aerial alien invasion. This invasion takes places over the course of five stages, each with three distinct difficulty modes.
J.A.M. PackedThroughout the course of J.A.M. players will have the option to upgrade both their ship and their weapons, ensuring that their ship will have the custom firepower and maneuverability that an individual player desires.
Not all upgrades are functional, however. Players with an eye toward the artistic can add paint jobs like camouflage or tiger-shark to their jet.
J.A.M. launches on September 19th for iPhone and iPad, and will support the iPhone 5's 16:9 aspect ratio.
