Soccer Superstars blasting onto iPhone in time for World Cup
Less Rooney, more anime
Gamevil is set to expand its Superstars series of RPG-sports titles next month with the arrival of Soccer Superstars on the iPhone. That’s ‘football’ for everyone living outside America, by the way.
Putting cultural differences aside, Soccer Superstars is a football title with the emphasis very much on the cartoony and extravagant, with explosions leaping from boots and cutaways of your players in the style of an anime battle sequence.
Strikers chargedThere’s a whole host of customisation options available for your chosen superstars, with special items, training and perform events to overcome if you want to take them from the bottom of the sporting ladder right up to football’s greatest prize – the Gamevil Cup (is this right?)
Along with the usual smatterings of Exhibition, Season and Cup modes, there’s also the intriguingly titled Dramatic Mode, which tasks you with reliving ‘the most memorable international soccer moments in history’.
Here’s hoping this means you get to play a superdeformed Zidane headbutt mini-game.
According to Gamevil’s Twitter account, the game is due to be submitted for approval at the end of the month and should be on the App Store in early June.
