According to a blog post handily translating information from the latest issue of Famitsu magazine, Band Brothers DX – a sequel to brilliant Japanese rhythm game Daigasso! Band Brothers – has been announced for DS.

That's for Japan, at least. We're still waiting for Daigasso to come out here, although anyone who's played it will still no doubt be eager to learn of this sequel even if it means importing it.

Band Brothers DX will apparently feature over 30 tracks, both classical and J-pop, and over 50 different instruments. You can play guitar by strumming with the stylus and up to six players will be able to jam over local link up play.

Probably the most exciting news though is that of a karaoke mode being included in the main game and loads of extra downloadable content. Indeed, over 100 tracks will apparently be made available to download. It's going to be like the handheld equivalent of SingStar on PS3 – it's just a shame that being a Japanese version we won't recognise a single song.

Still, the original was still perfectly playable despite the language differences and the songs were mostly brilliant.

We'll bring you more news on this one as it turns up. In the meantime, the release date for Japan is down as June 26th.
