Yesterday we reported Nintendo DS had smashed the UK record for the number of consoles sold in one week.

Today, it's Nintendo of America's turn to boast about its sales figures, as it reports more DS units were sold during Thanksgiving week than at any other time during the company's history.

Between November 18th and November 24th, over 653,000 DS consoles were sold, which breaks Nintendo's previous record of 600,000 Game Boy Advances sold in 2005.

"As shoppers look for ways to maximize their limited holiday spending money, they turn to gifts that can be used by the entire family," said George Harrison, NoA's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications, while on his way to the nearest Bentley showroom.

"Wii and DS offer something for every member of the family. They're the most fun video game experiences at the most affordable price."

There's no arguing the figures seem to support his comments, with the DS certainly having a very jolly time sales-wise. And it's not even Christmas yet.
