BioWare considering PSP development

Only a few days back we reported Crysis developer Crytek was advertising for a PSP programmer, which fuelled speculation the studio is considering a project for the handheld.

Now today comes just as exciting news courtesy of a Gamasutra interview with BioWare's Mark Darrah, project lead on DS game Sonic Chronicles.

When asked about other platforms BioWare is thinking of working with in the future, Darrah confirms it is considering developing for PSP. His exact words: "We're looking into Wii and PSP as a company as well, but nothing's been decided, and nothing's been announced."

Decided or announced it might not have been, but just knowing BioWare – the studio behind PC and home console greats such as Knights of the Old Republic, Mass Effect, Jade Empire and Baldur's Gate – is considering developing for PSP is enough to suddenly make us a lot more positive about the future of PSP games, especially here in the west.

Let's hope this goes forward as it should, then.
