Google has revealed further details about Android 3.0 at the press launch for the latest version of its mobile operating system, also known as Honeycomb.

A number of new features were announced, including a new notification bar area, a new graphics engine, and several new APIs.

Google showed off other features that will be included in Honeycomb such as eReader, the music player, the redesigned camera interface and Google Maps, which were all demoed.

The video capabilities of Google's tablet software were also demonstrated with a video call using GTalk and a CNN app that featured lived streaming video.

The event was also used to reveal new details about the Android Market. As well as announcing the Android Market web store, Google revealed that in-app purchasing will now be possible.

The most notable of the developer testing this new functionality is Disney Mobile, which wants to use the feature for its game Tap Tap Revenge 4.

Finally, “Buyer currency” support will also be coming to the Android Market, meaning that developers will be able to set region specific prices for their applications.
