Original new game Ninja Reflex was announced by EA in December last year and today the publisher revealed a few more details about how it'll play, alongside the first screenshots.

Enter Ninja Reflex's dojo, then, and you're greeted by six martial arts challenges, all designed to test your reflexes.

First up is Shuriken, where you defend a courtyard from attackers armed with throwing stars and coming at you from all directions. Then there's Horaru, in which you test your speediness against the flash of a firefly. Whatever that means.

In Hashi you must catch flies with chopsticks – a skill that any self-respecting ninja knows they should be equipped with – and in Koi you hunt koi carp with your bare hands.

There's also Nunchaku, which sees you crushing aerial assaults with your nunchucks, and Katana where you strike down demons with, yes, your samurai sword.

Your incentive for replaying these games over and over is to learn martial arts secrets and wisdom, as well as working your way up the 11-belt ranks until you've reached the coveted black hue.

As you might expect, stylus controls are used for all sorts of weapons in the game, from shuriken to katanas.

Meanwhile, multiplayer modes promise to enable up to four players to compete for ninja supremacy across three difficulty levels.

Finally, when training gets too intense you'll apparently be able to take a break and meditate for improved focus and energy. We're assuming you do this in the game, as opposed to it being just a suggestion to do it for real when you get bored playing.

Ninja Reflex is an exclusive game for DS (and Wii). It's released in Europe on March 4th.
