iPhone’s Need for Speed Undercover delayed

EA holding back until March to fine tune its motor

iPhone’s Need for Speed Undercover delayed

We heard about EA Mobile’s plans to adapt the Undercover game from its popular Need for Speed franchise to the iPhone back in August ’08, and we were expecting to see it wheel-spinning onto the App Store by December.

SlideToPlay has heard from inside EA that the game is now being delayed until March, as the developer apparently wants to spend more time polishing the game.

“We haven’t heard a final date from Apple yet, but EA plans to launch in early March. EA wants to make sure the game is as polished as possible before release,” the statement goes.

From what we saw recently in preview screenshots, Need for Speed Undercover is looking pretty polished already, though it’s not bad thing that EA’s shunning the iPhone trend for releasing unfinished games then attempting to complete their development through a constant stream of updates.

The console and PC versions have performed reasonably well, and the iPhone’s proven itself to be a most suitable platform for slick racing games, so this short delay is unlikely to harm Need for Speed Undercover too much – particularly if the extra two months of development pay off in terms of stability and performance, as we’d expect them to.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
