Music games are nothing new for the DS - its touchscreen has proved ideal for titles such as Jam Sessions - and hopefully later this year we'll be playing the most ground-breaking rhythm game for years, Guitar Hero, on it too.

But this is something new. A Japanese company is planning to release some music-creation software based on the design concept of the MS-10 synthesiser. Which basically means it should be pretty comprehensive.

Known as the KORG DS-10 (musical instrument producers KORG provide the sounds) the software includes two duel-oscillator analog synth simulators, a four-part drum machine and a 6 track/16 step sequencer.

Probably most excitingly though in terms of musical possibilities is that several units can be linked and played wirelessly. It's also promised you'll be able to exchange sounds and songs over wi-fi.

The software is currently being shown for the first time at the International Musikmesse Frankfurt. Unfortunately though its distributor AQ Interactive doesn't seem to have any plans to release it outside of Japan where it's due out in July.

Still budding music producers can always go down the import route. The KORG DS-10 will cost ¥4,800 (approx £23). You can check out more details at the official site.
