Gorillaz to launch Escape to the Plastic Beach iPhone game

Plenty of bands have jumped on the iPhone bandwagon with branded apps and games. Linkin Park is coming out with a social-networked shooter, P!nk keeps all her diary dates and photos in her Funhouse app, and Pocket Gamer office favourite Justin Bieber has his own version of Tap Tap Revenge.

The latest group to hit the iPhone is The Gorillaz, who are gearing up to release Escape to the Plastic Beach on Apple's touchscreen device.

You can already play the first two chapters of the game for free on the band's website, but you'll have to shell out £1.50 to play the third, 3D chapter.

Soon, you'll also be able to play that last level on your iPhone, too.

In the game you'll "Guide Murdoc around the Island; dive through thermals, dodge pirate galleons, floating mines and more while trying to stop 2D from escaping." It comes packed with eight stages, 3D graphics, and accelerometer controls, which makes the whole thing look like Gylder 2. Tasty.

No release date or price has been set so far. Developers can't charge the £1.50 web-price for apps, so it remains to be seen whether the price will go up (£1.79) or down (£1.19) for the iPhone debut.
