Over seven years ago Australian developer Endgame began work on Fractured Soul – an innovative platformer for the Nintendo DS that never made it to retail.

We expected the title back in 2010, but it never materialised on store shelves.

Now Fractured Soul is finally reaching its goal of a commercial release, albeit in a digital-only format for the 3DS.

The dual-screen platformer will be available on the North American eShop as of September 13th, at a price of $11.99.

Slow and steady

Fractured Soul takes an innovative approach toward dual-screen platforming, and has the player toggle between the two in order to dodge bullets and enemies.

Because of this two-screen dynamic, it would have been difficult for the developers to switch the platform from the DS to the Xbox Live Arcade or Steam when the release delays began to pile up around 2010.

There is no word from Endgame on when or if Fractured Soul will find its way to the European eShop.

Hopefully, it won't take seven more years to arrive.
