There have already been a couple of DS games that made full use of the hardware's two screens in an imaginative way.

EnjoyUP's Chronos Twin came out back in 2007, while Konami hooked up with student outfit Intrinsic Games for Reflections in 2009.

Neither title completely pinned down the flexibility of playing on this or that screen however, which leaves us with the hope that Australian developer Endgame Studios may go one better with its forthcoming Fractured Soul.

It's an action platformer that you play across both DS screens, toggling between the two versions of your character as best suits your immediate situation.

For example, some levels will see one screen underwater or experiencing different friction or gravity.

Fractured Soul will feature five worlds, plus two side-scrolling shooter-'em up sections.

You can get some idea of how the game will play in the following video.

Surprisingly it won't be a DSiWare game though.

It's planned as a proper retail release via Australian publisher N3V Games, who presumably will partner up in terms of the handling the eventual European and US launches.
