As if by some sort of elven magic, new information has emerged on the upcoming Gauntlet-a-like dungeon game, Dungeon Explorer: Warriors of Ancient Arts.

Due for release on both PSP and DS in February 2008, both versions pit players against demonic and monstrous soldiers, with the PSP iteration allowing for a whopping 150 different kinds of fighting styles and hundreds of variations of weapons, armour and equipment. We'd hoped multiplayer would support five players as the original Dungeon Explorer did, but instead both consoles will cater for three players in wireless matches.

Details for the DS version are similar, albeit with 60 fighting styles to master across eight lost Ancient Fights Art schools, and the ability for players to choose from three hero races and three character classes in order to create their own unique warrior.

"Dungeon Explorer updates the much loved series with an all-new engaging story and introduces new RPG gameplay elements never before seen," said John Greiner, president and CEO of Hudson Entertainment, while swirling an imaginary sword above his head.

There's a couple of months until its release, but in the meantime you can check out for yourself our the latest screenshots of the game in action.
