4 Wheel Xtreme rolls into view

Love them or hate them, there is no denying that those tank-like 4x4s that are increasingly clogging city roads do make for good game fodder. Surprisingly there are no off-road 4x4 racers to speak of on mobiles at present, leaving I-Play's 4 Wheel Xtreme a nice gap to squeeze into.

We were lucky enough to get some hands on time with 4 Wheel Xtreme last December, where the game was already looking good and playing well. Well, we've now got the game into review, and the noises coming out from that corner of the office have been very positive all week. (One might even say 'joyous').

The racing itself seems something of a thrill ride, with speed boost power-ups, exaggerated jumps and other obstacles littering the tracks. There are a diverse range of monstrous vehicles in place, too, ranging from SUVs to Monster Trucks, and desert, snow and mountain environments to race in.

The game is being published in 2D and 3D versions, to ensure a broad range of handset compatibility. The 3D version we have in certainly looks solid, with I-Play claiming that its advanced physics system enables the 4x4s to bounce realistically along the courses.
