GDC08: Legend of Zelda Phantom Hourglass voted best handheld game
Link bags prestigious Game Developers Choice Award
A Platinum Award from us here at Pocket Gamer was always going to be tough to beat, but Nintendo has got close with The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass winning Best Handheld Game of the Year at the Game Developers Conference.
The Game Developers Choice Awards, held during GDC in San Francisco, are a big deal amongst the game development community partly because they are voted for by both peers and GDC attendees.
Nintendo had nominations in three categories. Two were for its Wii game Super Mario Galaxy (Best Game Design, Game of the Year), but it was Link who brought home the silverware.
The game is still selling strong five months after its release and has managed over 1.1 million copies since its October 1st (US) release. Deservedly so, if you ask us.
