Play with 32 other builders in persistent online worlds in latest The Blockheads update
Build it together
Majic Jungle Software has updated its Gold Award-winning Minecraft-esque build-'em-up The Blockheads once again.
This time, the developer has introduced a substantial multiplayer element.
After downloading this update, you'll be able to play with up to 32 other gamers in persistent online worlds that are hosted by the developer's free Mac server app [download].
Like your single-player worlds, these multiplayer planets will continue to run in the background when you close The Blockheads. So, your on-screen avatar will still carry out any actions you queue before closing the app.
If you don't have the free Mac server app, you can quickly host a local multiplayer game on your iPhone or iPad, with five nearby players.
Other new features in the update include in-game multiplayer chat channels, a Game Center-powered two-player auto-match system, a trading system, and a whole bunch of items and blocks.
These include safes, which allow you to securely store items away from other players; and heavy iron doors, which only your characters can access.
As always, this update is jam-packed with obligatory bug fixes and plenty of tweaks. There are seven new achievements, too.
Finished reading? Okay, head on over to the App Store right this second and download The Blockheads from free. You won't regret it.
