Well, this is an unusually exciting start to a Monday morning. We just got off the phone with Marius Halser from Living Mobile who has told us that Turok is coming to mobiles as an all singing, all dancing platform shooter. But apparently, that is not all there is to the game.

"The thing we are most proud of is the stealth element," Halser reveals. "You don't have to play the game just one way."

Indeed, it seems mixing stealth and action gameplay styles is just one of the ways in which the game has been closely modelled on its PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 big brothers and you should expect a full complement of moves and weapons available for dealing out death and judgement to evil mercenaries and hungry dinosaurs alike.

For those of you unaware of the franchise, Turok is a game about a dinosaur hunter based on the old comic of the same name. The game series started out on the Nintendo 64 at the end of the last century but has since enjoyed several home console reiterations, including a newie that's just about to drop.

But back to the mobile version. The game is set to feature five weapons, ten levels and three boss battles, which again follow the same storyline as the console versions.

Turok mobile also includes style points awarded at the end of each level for the manner in which you play and that count towards unlockables. Whether you sneak through the shadows knifing unaware baddies or go in all guns blazing with all the subtlety of a T rex is up to you.

There is also strong WAP support promised, which features tips and cheats in the 'Training Camp' section, as well as downloadable wallpapers and realtones hewn from the in-game sound effects.

It's been a little while since we've had a good platform shooter on mobiles so we're pretty excited about the arrival of a big licence like Turok. The game is released on the same day as the US console versions (February 5th) and as soon as we get our hands on a review copy, we will be doing the honours.
