Rollercoaster Rush, Pyramid Bloxx and more available now

Digital Chocolate takes mobile games to PC

Digital Chocolate isn't a mobile publisher any more: it's a bona-fide multi-platform casual games publisher. Why? Well, it started by turning Tower Bloxx into a web Flash game and then a Facebook application.

But now the company has launched four of its other mobile games as fully-fledged casual downloadable PC titles.

The four are Rollercoaster Rush, Pyramid Bloxx (mobile version pictured), Diamond Islands and WordKing Spelltris. They're all for sale now on Digital Chocolate's website as PC downloads for $9.99, although free trial versions are also available.

It's a logical move for a company that's always made a stand about creating original games rather than relying on brands - providing a new way to make money from its mobile hits (not to mention possibly driving more sales of the mobile versions).

We'll also be interested to see whether the games end up being sold on the big casual gaming portals such as AOL, MSN, Big Fish, Pogo and RealGames, as that's where the real money is when it comes to the casual try-before-you-buy market.

Still you can already buy them from the UK, direct from the DChoc website, as I've just tested by buying Pyramid Bloxx. You'll need a credit card - there's no PayPal option. After purchase, you get an activation code, which you enter the first time you play the game.

Digital Chocolate isn't the first mobile publisher to diversify into PC gaming, mind. Gameloft sells four of its games as PC titles on its own website.
