The Gentleman saunters onto Google Play, cane in hand
Gentlemanly platforming
The modern gentleman is defined by many traits: his manners, his hat, and his singular ability to never stop running in a search for his missing monocles.
While perhaps not applicable to all modern gentlemen, these traits define the new indie platformer The Gentleman which developer Christopher Buckley released for Android on Thursday.
In The Gentleman, players must help the dashing gent navigate levels full of moving blocks and other hazards as he searches for his monocle.
This search is hardly a stroll in the park, however. Certain blocks will disappear or drop down after you run across them, while others will only appear after you activate them by running across another block.
Dash it allWhat really makes The Gentleman stand out from the other stick figure endless runners is its intriguing, minimalist art style.
The game is mostly rendered in black and white, but the gentleman's cane emits a soft, yellow glow which lights a level as you run through it. Additionally, rain effects play a major part in some levels thanks to the flashes of lightning which can reveal hidden blocks.
The Gentleman looks to be a great endless runner if you enjoy brooding atmospheres and environmental platform puzzlers. Best of all, the game only costs 69p/99c which is a price most gentlemen (and gentlewomen) can afford.
