Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit out for iPhone this week
Racer likely to appear on the App Store this Thursday
A reliable source has informed us that Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit will be released for iPhone and iPod touch this week.
Although EA Mobile has declined to provide information regarding the game's release beyond "November", our source assures us that a Thursday debut is likely.
We managed to squeeze a few juicy details out of EA Mobile in late October. Unlike the previous two Need for Speed games that have hit Apple devices, this newest instalment features weapons alongside exotic, high-end vehicles.
Spike strips, road block, and an EMP blast are at your disposal, enabling you to shake chasing cops off your back. Three environments have been confirmed: mountains, coast, and desert. The total number of tracks is unknown.
The big question is whether multiplayer will be offered. Need for Speed: Shift supported local play, but with Game Center making online multiplayer easy, the hope is that online racing will be supported.
If our source proves correct, we'll know whether online multiplayer is in the final package later this week when Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit revs up for iPhone and iPod touch.
