EA's free-to-play take on '90s Amiga classic Theme Park out now on iPhone and iPad
Cue entrance theme
EA's new freemium take on Theme Park, one of Bullfrog's best Amiga games from the early '90s, is out now in international App Stores, having passed the testing phase in Canada.
Theme Park gives you an empty patch of land and tasks you with building rides, shops, and paths for your chumps - sorry, 'customers' - to walk down.
There are multiple themes that you can assign to the various areas of the parks, ranging from sci-fi to medieval, which open up different kinds of rides as a result. It's integrated into EA's Origin service for friends' lists and the like, so if you're not signed up to EA's social gaming network of choice, then it might get a little lonely.
Bide your timeAs with most freemium build-'em-up games, gameplay revolves around timing collections and waiting a specific length of time for things to be constructed. You can, of course, spend real money to speed the process up, including purchasing a $60 ride, if you're rich.
I had a 'ride' on Theme Park a few months back, and while I didn't particularly like the idea of one of my favourite '90s strategy games being turned into a social game, it's definitely a lot more polished than the original was.
Theme Park is out now on the App Store as a Universal app for iPhone and iPad. You can grab it by hitting the button below.
