Sony counters PSP redesign speculation
Or does it?
It hasn't taken long for Sony to use its new official PlayStation blog (and a great thing it is, click here to check it out), to dispel some of the rumours that are flying around the web, namely the PSP phone and the handheld's redesign.
Blogging on the site, John Koller, PSP senior marketing manager, said:
"The rumor mill is flowing about new PSP hardware and a PSP phone, and I just wanted to take the time to clear the air. We haven't announced anything about a new PSP, much less one that would have any phone capabilities. As SCEA's resident PSP guru, I'm thrilled to hear that there's so much interest in the platform, but sorry folks, these reports floating around fall into the rumors/speculation category."
Well, we know they're rumour, but that doesn't necessarily make them untrue, of course.
More to the point, all Koller is essentially stating is that Sony hasn't officially announced anything.
We know that, too, obviously. But again, that doesn't mean they don't exist and aren't coming. Certainly, we're aware that Sony plans to release big PSP-related news at the forthcoming E3 trade event in July, which we expect to be the announcement of the redesign.
Not long to wait to see whether we're right.
