Released at the end of February but only in Canada, ngmoco's free2play online kingdom building game We Rule - developed by Newtoy - has finally thrown open its door to the rest of the world.

At GDC 2010, ngmoco boss Neil Young said the reason for the delay was to beef up the online infrastructure, as well tweak some of the game interfaces.

"We've been surprised by the number of friend connections people have made within We Rule," he explained.

"Some have added 100 friends so we've had to beef up the infrastructure to improve app load time, as well as introducing pagination in terms of the user interface."

King of the castle

In terms of what you get up to in the game, it's a building and planting game, where you direct your citizens to farm the land and harvest crops for sale. You also extract natural land resources, expand housing, and collect taxes from your citizens.

The business model for ngmoco works as you can buy additional Mojo to speed up your harvesting and building projects.

A bottle of 5 Mojo costs 99c, €0.79, 59p, while 75 Mojo costs $9.99, €7.99 or £5.99. Other options include 30, 165, 300 or 800 (£29.99).

The game is integrated with the Plus+ network as well so you can visit your friends' kingdoms, although - as yet - there's no option to rape and pillage them.

We Rule is out now.
