True Skate is one of the many skateboarding games that's available for mobile. Skateboard games usually vary from simulation to arcade or somewhere in between. True Skate has more of a simulation feel to its experience as you drop into the game right away.

There are no playable skaters as it's all about your fingers. So essentially, your fingers are the skaters here, just like with the old Tech Deck skateboards. You can freely go about pulling off tricks and you can do so by moving your fingers in different directions on your screen.

As mentioned, you'll be dropped into the game in the blink of an eye. This is great if you don't enjoy those pesky loading screens. But, although TrueSkate is a relatively simple and to-the-point skateboard game, there are a few other things you should know about it.

It's challenging but also pretty forgiving

With a game like True Skate that is heavily focused on the movement of your fingers, it can make it seem like it's a really challenging game. Yes, it is pretty tricky (no pun intended) but, it's very forgiving as well. Your movements don't have to be as precise as you think.

Yes, it will take some practice like with essentially anything but once you get the hang of it, you'll be pulling off some flip tricks in no time. Grinding might be the easiest thing to do as all you need to do is hold your fingers on the board on the screen and let the board slide.

It's a challenge that feels fun and it's satisfying when you start stringing together some nice tricks. It doesn't make you frustrated which is nice, or at least it shouldn't. All bets are off once you start nailing those flip tricks as you'll soon be a fingerboarding god.

There are mods

One of the really cool things about True Skate is the fact that you can import mods. These mods are all created by the community for you to enjoy. From skateparks to boards to character skins and more, having these mods can really open up the game for you.

Normally a popular aspect of PC games, it's always fun seeing them on mobile games as well. And with skateboarding games always being good for creativity, this is a welcome inclusion in the game. The only catch is that you need to pay for a subscription in order to access things like mods.

There's a monthly plan ($4.99), a three-month plan ($9.99), or a yearly plan ($24.99). So although you need the subscription, at least there are some options. Also, this gives access to other features such as the ability to create your own park and apparel for your character.

A solid amount of settings

True Skate offers a variety of settings to help make your skating experience as smooth as possible. There's not a boatload of options but there is enough that'll make you think "oh wow, I didn't know I can tweak that" when visiting the settings menu.

You can adjust HUD transparency so that if you feel the in-game menu options are blocking your way, you can make them go completely invisible or you can have them slightly visible if you wish. You can even turn off the ability to crash if you wish.

Another thing you can do is enable or disable trick types (grab, flip, etc). This could be a good way to practice a certain style without accidentally pulling off another type. And then another thing of now is the many camera options that are available. There are a whopping 10 camera angles to choose from whether it's being zoomed in completely on your skateboard or being zoomed out. You can also choose to turn off the ability to see your skater on the board. If you feel he or she is in the way, then go ahead and yank them off (although not having them is the default setting).
