Imagine Monkey Island, if Guybrush Threepwood had to hide in a barrel every time he pinched something, and you've got Tiny Thief

It's Rovio Stars's hotly anticipated cartoon puzzler, which mixes tricky point-and-click conundrums with sneaky stealth gameplay.

The story, which is stretched over a series of cartoon vignettes, sees our pint-size burglar hero (and his ferret pal) on the hunt for a specific object, mostly to dole out citizen justice on jerk sheriffs and greedy pirates.

Whatever the case, it requires solving classic point-and-click adventure style puzzles, by picking up objects and using them on the environment.

However, you'll also need to hide from guards by hopping in barrels and hammocks and hay bales. Then, when you've sussed out their patrol pattern and spy an opening, you can sneak by unnoticed.

Tiny Thief is as cute as a button, with terrific cartoon animations and gorgeous set pieces that fill up the entire iPad screen (it also works on iPhone and Android phones, but you'll have to scroll to see the whole scene).

It's also packed with content. There are 30 levels, and each one has a main objective, and lots of bonus items to find. Don't worry - we'll have a comprehensive guide to finding everything, very very soon.

Tiny Thief is out now on the App Store and Google Play, and it costs £1.99 / $2.99.

In our Bronze Award review, we said, "Tiny Thief is a charming reduction of the point-and-click adventure, though its charm and polish cover over some pretty basic trial-and-error gameplay".
