Ticket to Ride is releasing on Steam next month, followed by a mobile and console launch

A few weeks ago, Marmalade Game Studio announced its next project, Ticket to Ride, a reconceptualized version of the iconic Asmodee board game. The tabletop was originally published in 2004 and was awarded the best game of the year and is still wildly popular. The developers want to expand the game’s reach by digitizing it as the title is set to launch on Steam soon.

Marmalade Game Studio already has a strong footing in the genre as they’ve made video game versions of Monopoly, The Game of Life 2, The New Cluedo, and Mouse Trap. All of them are iconic games and their PC, console, or mobile port has always felt just like physically playing the game. Ticket to Ride aims to meet the same standards and expand on them by employing new and innovative features.

The game stays true to its original while bringing in a fresh new interface, 3D animations, and an AI system that makes everything feel more realistic. It will feel a little condensed in comparison to the board game, a decision that was deliberately taken to ensure a thrilling experience in shorter multiplayer sessions in real time.

Of course, players still have the option to partake in asynchronous games that last much longer as turns can be taken as and when convenient. A total of five players will be invited simultaneously to participate in one match. These games could be played online with friends or with others from all over the globe.

At launch, Ticket to Ride will feature maps featuring the United States and Europe. Subsequent expansions are all set to introduce new locations and gameplay additions. Expect to see a lot of fan-favourite maps return, but don’t be surprised if something original pops in too.

Ticket to Ride launches on Steam in November, with a release for Android, iOS, and console planned sometime around next year.
