Square Enix announces Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call, a 200 song sequel of a rhythm game

Are you ready to give your 3DS's touchscreen a few more weeks of brutal stylus stabbing?

If so, Square Enix has some great news for you. Gematsu reports that it's announced Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call - a sequel to the Pocket Gamer Silver Award-winning rhythm game, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy.

Curtain Call boasts a catalogue of 200 songs, including new tracks from Final Fantasy XIV and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. Also new is a multiplayer "versus battle mode" and an expanded roster of 60 characters - up from the original 29 available in the 3DS version.

Interestingly, it looks like the nine characters exclusive to the expensive iOS version of Theatrhythm will also be added to the roster, since Ramza (Final Fantasy Tactics), Balthier (Final Fantasy XII), Rinoa (Final Fantasy VIII), and Garnet/Dagger (Final Fantasy IX) are all visible in the scanned announcement alongside Crisis Core's Zack Fair.

We don't know at current if Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call will support save data or DLC from the original Theatrhythm, nor do we know when it will make its way to the west, but we do know it will be out in the spring of 2014 in Japan.

You'll know more about Curtain Call just as soon as we do.
