It's elemental, my dear dragon player

First DS screens bite for The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night

Maybe we're old fashioned, but we found the adventures of Spyro the little purple, tail-whipping dragon pretty pleasant when A New Beginning, the first in Sierra's The Legend of Spyro trilogy, was released last year.

The middle stint will take the shape of The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night, and we're happy to report that Amaze, the development house behind A New Beginning, is already hard at work on the game, which will bring new attack moves into play.

In keeping with the Spyro universe, these moves will follow an elemental focus, and hence gain you access to Ice Bomb, Electric Orb, Earth Vine, and Enhanced Fire. Matching this approach are the four new elemental melee moves – Comet Dash, Artic Blast, Earth Pound, and Electric Spin – while there will also be four Fury attacks: Earth, Electricity, Ice, and Fire.

Spyro also goes all Matrix, too, thanks to the inclusion of Dragon Time, which will enable you to pull off special moves in sloo-mooooootion. Less aggressively, Dragon Time will also be used in time-based puzzles.

The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night is due to be released in the autumn, sometime during October or November we guess.
