Lleyton Hewitt serves up a treat for mobile gamers

But will Gameloft's new tennis title be a smash hit?

Lleyton Hewitt serves up a treat for mobile gamers

We're barely managing to keep pace with Gameloft's constant stream of new game announcements at the moment, so heaven knows how it's doing it.

Anyway, Tennis Open 2007 is the publisher's brand new mobile tennis sim, and the company has signed up Aussie racketeer Lleyton Hewitt to be its star.

The game sees you playing on the professional tennis circuit, competing against tournaments in New York, Paris and a host of other locations. The inclusion of a career mode means you'll have to work your way up the ranks – presumably before hitting a brick wall when you come up against Roger Federer, if it's truly realistic.

You'll also have to train up your player's skills with five mini-games, which although we haven't seen them yet, sounds like Tennis Open 2007 is taking a leaf out of Virtua Tennis' book.

Gameloft reckons it has optimised the game's controls for mobile, to ensure hitting a variety of shots won't be fiddly, even on a cramped mobile keypad.

Can they be serious, as McEnroe might say? Click 'Track It!' to find out when we've given the game a full run-through.
