The original iPhone music/rhythm game Tap Tap Revenge has highlighted its ability to boost music sales for artists who license their tracks to the game, and Tapulous CEO Bart Decrem has been discussing the massive Christmas sales his game brought in.

"In three weeks, we sold 100,000 copies of Ke$ha’s Tik Tok alone in Tap Tap Revenge," he tells SandboxFM.

"At a time when a number one hit maybe sells a couple of million copies, to move 100,000 copies through our game shows that in-app commerce is real."

The company recently expanded its music-based games with racing title Riddim Ribbon, which is currently being supported by (and supporting) The Black Eyed Peas.

In-app purchases are also to be available through this latest game, and is clearly an avenue of music sales that artists can no longer ignore.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
