Rocketcat Games knows when it's got a good thing going. Its last game, Hook Champ, scooped up countless awards in 2009's 'game of the year' lists, it was a finalist in the IGF Mobile 2010 awards and Pocket Gamer awarded it a coveted Silver Award.

So it comes as no surprise that the sequel sticks to what works. Super Quickhook features all the rope-swinging movement of Hook Champ, but amps it up by having danger constantly nipping at your heels.

"The game has a randomised, endlessly replayable Infinite Mode where you flee from an endless avalanche," says Kepa Auwae of Rocketcat. You'll have to use all your skills and experience from Hook Champ to outrun and outswing it.

But while that mode emulates the sort of pick-up-and-play, endless and randomised addictiveness of a game like Canabalt or Doodle Jump, Super Quickhook is still crammed with exploratory levels that Hook Champ fans have been craving.

"We're also working on a slew of Hook Champ style hand-crafted levels that are about navigating obstacles with your grappling hook," says Auwae. There are two major differences, though: no time limit and a new checkpoint system. "You no longer have to repeat a whole level over if you die."

"The first one shows that submersing your legs in lava isn't as bad as you'd think," Auwae says. "The second is Jakob really contemplating whether to latch onto that ceiling or not."
