Remember Michael Barrymore in his TV heyday? No, not verbally bullying Jodie Marsh and breaking down in tears under pressure from permatanned milk-lapping leotardist George Galloway. That was his comeback, silly.

Barrymore's proper heyday was as the host of TV gameshow Strike It Lucky, which was the fifth most-watched programme on UK television in 1987. How do we know that? It's on the press release announcing Player X's mobile game version, of course.

The mobile game will follow the same format as the TV show, with you answering questions and banking prizes on your way to a jackpot.

Actually, that's not exactly true, as you won't be fending off banter from an excitable faux-cockney host – Barrymore doesn't feature in the game. But Strike It Lucky does have over 400 questions to pit your wits against, and follows the proper rules of the original TV show.

Player X is carving out a niche for itself with cheesy – sorry, 'classic' – gameshows, having launched the likes of Family Fortunes and Blockbusters in recent months.

What next? We'd like to see a beat-'em-up where Dusty Bin from 3-2-1 dukes it out with Mr Chips from Catchphrase, compered by a virtual Les Dawson. Make it happen, Player X fellas.

Until then we've Strike It Lucky, which will be on sale imminently. Click "Track It!" to keep up-to-date on its progress.
