E3 2010: 3DS remake of Starfox 64 confirmed
Do a barrel roll
When the DS was first launched, and we got our grubby mitts on a delicious port of Super Mario 64, we couldn't be blamed for wishing that a few more N64 classics went portable.
Well, now's that time. It took a while, an analogue stick, and an entire extra dimension, but Nintendo has finally started bringing more of the publisher's first forays into 3D worlds to the portable, starting with StarFox 64.
The classic space blaster, called Lylat Wars over here thanks to a legal spat with a German company, had the woodland-creatures-turned-space-heroes navigating the galaxy, blowing up enemies, and taking on the evil Andross.
The 3DS edition looks like a pretty faithful remake of the game, complete with some gorgeous draw distance, letting you see the mountains, asteroids, and buildings up ahead. On the bottom screen you can see the game's controls, which put Arwing movement on the analogue nub, and fancy air stunts on the D-Pad.
