Sonic The Hedgehog 2 arrives for iPhone

Classic platformer Sonic The Hedgehog 2 has finally arrived for iPhone and iPod touch.

Stopping Dr Eggman from building a planet-sized weapon is your goal in this sequel and collecting Chaos Emeralds is the only way of preventing the Death Egg from powering up.

Naturally, you guide Sonic through 2D stages at super sonic speed grabbing coins and defeating enemies in pursuit of the emeralds.

Sega's iconic hero has had a dodgy history on the App Store, but his fortunes could turn around with this port of one of his most beloved adventures. Performance issues for some users soured the original Sonic The Hedgehog, as did the nature of the virtual controls.

If you've played the iPhone adaptation of the first game, then you should feel at home here since the sequel utilises the same controls and options.
