Sonic Runners is now available on iOS and Android - if you live in Canada or Japan
The Hedgehog goes into soft launch
Sonic Runners - the Blue Blur's new free to play endless runner - has just entered soft launch on iOS and Android in Japan and Canada.
This one comes from the main Sonic development studio Sonic Team, rather than Hardlight who were responsible for the genuinely quite good Sonic Dash and the genuinely quite crap Sonic Jump.
It's all about tapping the screen to run, jump, and spin across various checkerboard worlds, as you chase down Eggman and his robot army.
It's connected to the Sonic Colors game from a few years back as it involves those wispy Wisps, and Color Powers that give you high-speed movement, asteroids that destroy objects, and a big ol' drill for burrowing underground.
You'll start off as Sonic, but can unlock Tails and Knuckles as player characters. Plus, you'll enhance your character’s abilities with upgrades and companion characters like Chao.
I wish I could tell you if it's any good but the download process is taking forever. Not to worry: we'll be back later today with a hands-on video of the game.
