Shrek finale gets a tie-in

Gameloft releases Shrek Forever After on mobile

After three much loved (and lucrative) instalments, the Shrek series is set to be brought to a close with a fourth and final film entitled Shrek Forever After.

As before, Gameloft has got the licence for the official mobile tie-in, which it has been successful with in the past. Shrek The Third, for example, was not only a worthy tie-in but a decent little platformer in its own right.

Available now, Shrek Forever After: The Mobile Game takes the form of a 2D platformer as Shrek tries to undo the deal he’s done with the treacherous Rumplestiltskin.

Said deal has warped reality to the point where Fiona doesn’t recognise him and Rumplestiltskin himself rules the land.

Ride the donkey

While the game doesn’t look to be a huge departure from the previous Shrek movie tie-ins, there are a few modifications to the proven formula. This time you get the opportunity to control Donkey and Fiona in addition to the titular green ogre.

Gameloft also promises more variety in general play with a reputed four gameplay styles on offer with the 11 levels split between exploration, combat, racing and flying sections.

We’ll let you know soon if it’s to be a fairytale ending for Shrek's mobile exploits.
