Get ready to play a chainsaw-wielding Abe Lincoln in Second Chance Heroes for iOS

I bet that got your attention.

All of those kitten videos have made us soft, you see. So, the heroes of the past have been transported to the future to save us from the apocalypse and its monsters.

The result is a slightly wacky action-arcade game. You can be Napoleon riding a cannon, Queen Elizabeth I with a chain gun, or Tesla with a, ahem, Tesla gun.

The virtual controls look complex at first. Wrong! I found that they worked pretty well in practice.

I had no problems with them at all, in fact. And even though there are lots of buttons here (for a touchscreen game, anyway), they're all well placed. You don't need to use most of them that often, either.

Within minutes, I was slicing up hordes of disco-dancing zombies and werewolves. And I was using 'Dash' to escape trolley-loads of explosives.

From the time I've spent with it, then, I can safely say that Second Chance Heroes is an entertaining action game. It should be out for iPad and iPhone next week.

Oh, I didn't get a chance to test out the multiplayer. So, you may want to wait for our full review if you plan on picking it up for that.
