What are the most important bits of information from last night? Well..

Apple Watch OS 4

To kick things off yesterday, the Apple Watch is getting a bit of a tweak this autumn. Aiming to be the best workout pal/home assistant a piece of tech can be, the upcoming watchOS is looking pretty neat.

To really pump you up in terms of exercising, your Apple Watch will give you daily inspiration and give a little extra push in the evening to help you meet your goals. In the long run, you've also got monthly challenges and feel-good celebrations when you reach your targets - but no celebratory cheese burgers for you.

[read more] http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/Apple+Watch/Apple+news/feature.asp?c=74220 Tue, 6 Jun 2017 13:40:00 GMT We want YOU to write freelance guides for Pocket Gamer! Hey, you there. Yes, you with the face. Are you good at video games? Do you know how to whip up a mean spreadsheet? Do you speak the language of HTML as fluently as you do your mother tongue?

If you answered yes to all of the above questions, we may have a job for you.

You see, we're looking for freelance guide writers - though to describe them as writers is a bit misleading. What we're really looking for is someone who can create wiki-style spreadsheets of data, and make them look nice on our site in a speedy manner.

We will be honest - there won't be an awful lot of writing involved, as it's mostly data entry and getting the HTML code just right. You may also need to pop into PhotoShop to spruce up a few images as well.

For an example of what we're looking for, take a look at this. As you can see, it's just a big table of the cards available in Clash Royale. That's exactly what we're looking for.

[read more] http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/Apple+Watch/Pocket+Gamer/news.asp?c=74016 Wed, 17 May 2017 16:14:29 GMT The narrative adventure Lifeline: Whiteout goes free on iOS for the first time Lifeline: Whiteout is the fourth installment in the Lifeline series, and it's just gone free on iOS for the first time ever.

As narrative adventures go, the Lifeline series is iconic. Lifeline: Whiteout follows a similar path to the previous titles, in which a lost adventurer's only hope for survival is you - no pressure. Your choices throughout the story guide him along his path to survival and ultimately decide his fate.

Just to make things even more immersive your protagonist, V. Adams, sends you real-time notifications to let you know what's going on. And, of course, just like any good narrative adventure once you're done you can play the game all over again, making different decisions to lead your character down a different path.

[read more] http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/Apple+Watch/Lifeline%3A+Whiteout/news.asp?c=72596 Wed, 4 Jan 2017 16:48:58 GMT Review: Pokemon GO Apple Watch review - Better late than never? Make no mistake - Pokemon GO would have stood the test of time had Niantic been more timely with its updates.

But sadly, the damage seems to have been done. The second generation launched last week - almost six months after launch - and has so far completely failed to arrest the decline.

So what chance does the latest update have when all it offers is Apple Watch support? Very little.

Not only does no one actually own an Apple Watch, but the implementation of it leaves a lot to be desired.

How does it work?

Pokemon GO on Apple Watch functions like any other fitness app. You tell the app you're about to go for a walk and it keeps track of your steps, distance covered, time taken, and calories lost.

[read more] http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/Apple+Watch/Pokemon+GO/review.asp?c=72557 Fri, 23 Dec 2016 16:13:00 GMT Pokemon GO arrives on Apple Watch just in time for Christmas Just in time for your Christmas Day walks, Pokemon GO has finally released on Apple Watch.

Originally demonstrated in Apple's Keynote in September, the addictive AR game about catching micro-monsters has just got so much easier to play. Given that the Apple Watch was advertised around its fitness capabilities, it marries with Pokemon GO perfectly.

Combing gameplay, imagination, fitness, and the real world, this version of Pokemon GO works a little like the Plus accessory - only, more high-tech. Discover and interact with nearby Pokemon with a tap, and collect items from Pokestops. Once one of the little beasties does pop its head out you can catch it from your iPhone as normal.

[read more] http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/Apple+Watch/Pokemon+GO/news.asp?c=72548 Fri, 23 Dec 2016 10:13:00 GMT Steel Media says goodbye to PG's former Community Manager, Ray Wilmott Today, Steel Media says goodbye to Pocket Gamer's well-loved former Community Manager, Ray Wilmott. And that's the gaming joy rained down upon us by Apple’s September 2016 keynote.

The iPhone 7 was unveiled as expected, sans headphone jack, but the mobile giant also welcomed Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto to the podium to reveal a fresh take on Super Mario. We knew that Nintendo characters were making their way to mobile, but this elevated it to a whole new level. An announcement doesn't come much bigger than that in our world.

But is this auto-runner signal a major positive shift for mobile gamers? Or will it be "the death of Nintendo"?
