C'mon Anthony, how about some balanced reporting and perspective. Given Sony has a very good history of hitting or exceeding targets, and the Vita hasn't been through a holiday period in the west yet, an install base of 1.8 million at this point isn't bad at all (not too dissimilar from the PS3 at a similar stage, I think, but it's been a while).
Of course, most gaming industry folk seem to think perspective is measured in months, not years.
Also - comparing the sales of a relatively expensive launch device with an established, cheaper product over a similar period is ridiculous. The PS2 outsold the 360 early on in the 360s life, but that doesn't mean the 360 was dead, just that it was taking a while to get moving.
