Well, in my opinion I would first create a house made out of dirt, then go find wood and make a crafting table. Then wait inside your house intell daytime and inprove my house as much as you want. And then make a mine so deep that it is one block above bedrock and thats where I found most of my coal.

Thaaaaaank you. The crafting table is dim (due to being on top of the list) and I didnt think it was an option. So I wasted hours pounding away at bedrock with my fists wondering how the heck to craft a pick! Great, simple, thourough tutorial.

This is a great begginers guide, especially because im used to having unlimited everything (free pocket edition) it made it a bit harder to adjust, but this definetly helped :)

problem, trees drop no saps so wood is gone very quickly if you want a wooden house. This needs updating.

This is great, but the experienced way to survive. You can just get like 5 dirt blocks and jump and place so you have a tower. The zomebies cant get you and your toatally safe unless you jump off. ( I did jump off before, not a good idea. )

noob i eat coal ores for a snack. thats not how you make torches. this is 2012 we have flashlights we dont need torches noob. go back to the 1800s.
Torches are for people who cant afford light and have no place to live.
