Mobitween launches ugenGames flash games community

It wants to be the bridge between online and mobile casual gaming

French firm Mobitween has launched a new service called ugenGames, which will let developers upload their web or mobile flash games for other members of the community to play.

You don't need ninja coding skillz to get involved, either: the site supplies a range of game engines, which you can then tweak with your own photos, sounds and graphics. Neatly, you can even turn them into embedded games for your Facebook or MySpace profile.

Where does mobile come in, though? Well, at some point the service will offer all its uploaded games as Flash Lite downloads for mobile phones, too. The website says this feature is "coming soon".

It's an intriguing idea, and a good chance to find out whether user-generated gaming really is The Next Big Thing. We wonder how Mobitween plans to make money from ugenGames, though, and reckon there's a limit to how much fun you can have with generic game engines with photographic heads slapped in.

Still, it's a concept with bags of potential provided enough developers get involved, so it's certainly worth keeping an eye on. Check out the ugenGames website for yourself.
