Devil May Cry 4: Refrain brings demon-hunting action to iPhone

Capcom shrinks console action series down to size

Devil May Cry 4: Refrain brings demon-hunting action to iPhone

Capcom will introduce iPhone and iPod touch to the ways of over-the-top action with Devil May Cry 4: Refrain.

A retelling of the console game tailored to iOS devices, the demon-hunting slash fest casts you as Nero in a quest to topple the foul creatures of the underworld.

Ten levels of hack 'n' slash action are promised. Nero comes equipped with a suitably large sword, deadly handguns, and a demon hand for devastating melee blows. All three are handled via virtual buttons in the lower-right corner of the screen.

Lock and load

Switching up your attacks boosts your combo, which in turn nets you additional red orbs that can be used to upgrade your weapons and unlock new abilities.

Story mode is the sole attraction, although Capcom pledges to release an update that adds series icon Dante as a playable character. Slide to Play reports that new modes might be added too.

News of the game confirms our Rumour Miner's assertion in May 2010 that Capcom was hard at work on a game based on the Devil May Cry series.

Devil May Cry 4: Refrain will be available for iPhone and iPod touch in late January for £3.99/$6.99. [NOTE: Capcom has contacted us to say they have not settled on a price and the previously stated figure may not be the launch price for the game.]
