iZombie Death March lurching onto iPhone
Neverending gory... Ah-ah-ahhhh, ah-ah-ahhhh, ah-ah-arghhh!
US publisher Sonic Boom is preparing to release its first iPhone game: iZombie Death March.
It does what it says on the tin, promising hordes of slavering zombies to shoot to pieces. But not just zombies: flying skulls, skeleton dogs and "chainsaw monsters" too.
Naturally, you'll get plenty of weaponry to help you out, including a pistol, hunting rifle, shotgun, and assault rifle among others.
Other zombie games are available for iPhone, of course - including Zombie Chav Hunt and Zombie Invasion - so why will this one stand out? Sonic Boom tells Pocket Gamer that the sheer bloodthirstiness of iZombie Death March is one big feature.
When you slay enemies, their body parts and blood spatter will stay on-screen, piling up as you lay waste to more undead. The publisher is calling this "perma-gore technology", charmingly.
"The idea is to focus on the horror and fear that you experience in watching zombie movies, more than it is about destroying a large horde of creatures with no personality that have come out of the monster factory," Sonic Boom's Lou Fasulo tells us.
Some missions will see your view restricted (scroll through the screenshots above for examples) to ramp up the tension, while there'll be unlockable cheats if you play well.
We think it could be a hit, but stand by for a preview and video when we'll have a better idea. The game is due to hit the App Store in mid-April.
