According to games industry site Gamasutra, Electronic Arts CCO William 'Bing' Gordon has left EA, which was founded by Digital Chocolate CEO Trip Hawkins, to join venture capital firm KPCB.

Why do we care? Well, because KPCB (comprising Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield, and Byers) is the company behind the iFund, which gives money to underfunded developers who want to make applications – including games – for the iPhone.

"A revolutionary new platform is a rare and prized opportunity for entrepreneurs, and that's exactly what Apple has created with iPhone and iPod touch," says partner John Doerr on the company's site. "We think several significant new companies will emerge as this new platform evolves, and the iFund will empower them to realize their full potential."

Bing Gordon will join KPCB as a partner in June. Given his long background in gaming, there's every reason to believe his involvement with the iFund will mean more games for the iPhone and iPod Touch, with small and innovative companies seeing most of the benefit.

In other words, this could be a indication that the iPhone will be a killer gaming device before too long. So somebody buy me one.
